Our Backyard Wildlife Sanctuary Friends

We are home to bear, deer, the endangered Pileated woodpecker, and cute critters like the ones below. One rewarding moment was the rescue of three cubs whose mother had been hit by a car. The cubs had crawled into a tree. We called the animal shelter and they came and rescued them. They were cared for by the state and then released back into the wild. We'll try to share new pictures as we take them.

I just took these photos of the deer. There were three of them, but only two came in close enough to get a picture. These were taken out our bedroom window. The deer were heading for the sunflower seeds. Can you believe it?

I've been trying to find one I have of a deer playing with our cat. It's hilarious. Until I locate it, you'll just have to enjoy these beautiful sunsets.

This is Bandit! Darn this little guy. He and his friends have been climbing trees and knocking down tube bird feeders hanging from tree limbs and eating the goodies inside. One feeder totally disappeared. It was a white feeding tube. I wonder where the little guys drug it too! He's kinda cute, don't you think?
